K2/Spice is a synthetic cannabinoid that imitates the effects of marijuana. The active substances in K2/Spice are JWH-018 and JWH-073. They are found in more than 27 herbal compounds via the internet and in local stores. The product is marketing under such names as K@, Spice, Genie, Yucatan Fire, Pot-pourri, Buzz and Skunk. The effects of JWH-018 AND JWH-073 are much more potent than THC and can be smoked or taken orally.
ADL developed our K2/Spice test using Ultra Performance LC/MS/MS. UPLC/MS/MS is the most sensitive method available for the detection of legal and illegal substances. Sample matrices include blood, serum and urine. This test is performed routine and run STAT for our Hospital/Emergency Room clients.
Collection Requirements:
Urine- 20ml
Blood/Serum- 1ml in a Red Top Tube (no additives)
Result TAT:
Routine- 24-48 hours
STAT- 6 hours from collection
